In just over a week I will be boarding one of those big metal birds bound for Honolulu Hawaii. I’m looking forward to touching down and catching up with my hawaiian friends Spencer Skipper and Jeff Hubbard. Hopefully get a few good waves out Pipe and enjoy competing in the Pipeline Pro. I could say that Hawaii has been very kind to me in the past, I feel Hawaii help boost my career as a travelling professional bodyboarder. From the very first season I spent on what the surfing world calls the seven mile miracle, I just couldn’t get enough of what Hawaii had to offer. I think I surfed every break on that seven mile stretch and probably some waves that people wouldn’t even consider waves but i was loving every minute of my time on the north shore. This probably worried my parents a little because I didn’t want to ever leave. On my return home to the Gold Coast where big Duranbah didn’t seem so big anymore and school just not getting the attention it deserved due to constant daydreams between maths equations, I managed to receive quite a lot of publicity in the bodyboarding magazines around the world. I even impressed Mike Stewart enough for him to offer me a contract to ride for his company Science which i was just over the moon about, I mean what grom wouldn’t be so i signed the contract. I then re-signed with Billabong and everything was just fantastic. That first season in Hawaii i will always remember as my first big adventure and every year after that i still find it exciting and challenging.
