On Its Way

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

This is hardest post to write to date as I promised to have the boards released by the 20th and for reason out of my control I just couldn’t. I would really like to thank everyone in advance for your patience as I’m doing everything I can to have the boards ready. Thanks again for your patience.

Testing My Boards

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

The forecast for decent waves wasn’t really promising as I boarded my flight back to the west coast of Australia. The predictions didn’t bother me so much as I had packed my new Boards and was more than happy to ride anything that resembled a wave while I iron out all the bumps that comes with riding new boards.
As it would be the waves turned on and it was a great way to put the boards through the paces and see how they would perform.
So far I am really pleased on how they feel and how they are holding up.
I’m riding a 41inch PE single stringer board in the photo’s below. I will keep riding this particular board for the next few days before jumping onto a Polypro board (PP) and making sure I am happy with how the boards are performing.

FOUNDboards

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Its always been a dream of mine to start my own brand. Have team riders, team trips, sponsor local and world tour contest. Dreams of making the sport bigger and better so everyone can see that bodyboarding is actually a great sport right up there with surfing. So as of today I have started my own brand called Found boards. It’s the start of a vision I have been carrying for quite some time now. I am going into Found boards head first with total commitment in making it work. I have taken quite a lot of risk in the water and this is probably the biggest out of the water, it’s a new challenge I’m taking on and one I am looking forward to. My aim is to be uncompromised in the quality of Found boards and its products that’s my promise to you. There is going to a lot of exciting times coming up that I want you all to be apart of so I hope you can join me In my vision to make bodyboarding what it should be.

WINny Wins

Monday, May 24th, 2010

While I Had to sit this contest out to work on a new venture that I will be sharing with you soon,I had the pleasure of watching the Chile Arica challenge from the comfort of my bed. Due to the timezones your up to 4am in the morning drifting in and out sleep watching the event going live on you laptop that is making the whole room glow. All I was missing was popcorn. Winny walked away with the win that I feel was well deserved, his run to the final was stacked with riders that can post high scores and walk away with the heat win so by no means an easy win. Another reason why I liked Winny winning was that he posted the two highest waves of the event a perfect 10 and a 9.75 both in the final while also having the highest average heats scores for the entire event. Another Australian that absolutely killed it was Jake Stone making it to the semi finals and beating PLC in the quarter finals which i’m sure was a really rewarding victory for Jake. Anyway i’m in bed so I may as well go to sleep. Well done Lads and well done to another epic event in Chile.

Grow Up

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Mitch at The Left.

Ready yourself as Chris White’s new movie (and the first of a three-part series) Grow Up is about to be released!

Riptide received these mental frame grabs from the man late last night and also the following information on the premieres.

There’s only going to be three premieres (WA 30th April, NSW 1st May, QLD 2nd May) and all the venues have limited seating. There’ll be no ticket sales on the door, so you’re going to have to buy your ticket from growup.com.au really quick! Below are the prem posters that contain more details (the East Coast bodyboarding stores will be receiving their tickets on March 30). Tickets are $30 for entry and a copy of the DVD or just $15 for entry only. There’ll be a heap of pros at each of the premieres, plus stacks of giveaways and prizes.

Rumour has it that Jake (aka Big Stone) is fresh out of the studio where he recorded a new track, titled “Brendo Thinks You’re Amazing!” Which is song reflecting Brendon Backshall’s love/obsession with Brad Hughes…it sounds amazing and we cant wait for it!

Game On

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

I’ve heard Mike Stewart, Pierre Costes, Jeff Hubbard, and 2010 pipe winner Amaury Lavernhe are locked in to compete in the first round of the I.B.A Australasian tour at Duranbah beach. Although not a world tour event where points are accumulated for the world title race. This event looks to be a warm up event for riders competing in the second event of the I.B.A world tour at the Soldiers Beach pro on the Central Coast of N.S.W the following week. Duranbah or just d-bah for short is renowned for its consistency and punchy barrels and air bowls that will leave any bodyboarder salivating. With the small but extremely talented international lineup competing at d.bah this event takes on a whole new meaning for the local riders like Tom Rigby, Tom Smith, Corey Mclean, Joe Clarke Nick and Simon Omerod to name a few of the very talented pool local riders who know the shifty peaks better then anyone. Plus throw in Dave Winchester, Ryan Hardy, Damian King, Brad Hughes, Ben Player and a host of other top aussie bodyboarders and you have one of the most exciting contest lineups australia has seen in quite sometime. Australians hate losing on their home soil so there is no way the visitors are going to get easy. all the action starts on the 8th of april till the 11th at d.bah. Then onto the Solders Beach Pro where all the riders will be battling for valuable world tour points from the 15th till the 18th of april. See you all there
